I agree with Shri BR Mehta that difference of views on any issue and the modus operandi to achieve the same object are the hallmark of a democratic tradition. After having served an Institution like LIC for over three decades and interacting with thousands of people during our tenure, all of us have grown not only in age, but also in maturity of mind. The long wait for persuading our own employer to implement a resolution taken after being convinced about its justness has set the patiently-anticipating pensioner fraternity on their nerves and the prolonged delaying tactics is causing frustration replacing hope !
- The democratic rights of every individual and organisation are to be respected. But speaking in different voices is coming in the way of an early solution to the issues being confronted. Now that the Hon'ble Supreme Court has pronounced the same Order in all the three cases, where LIC was pleased to file SLP's and tagging them together while considering the Civil Appeals, it is time for all the Representative Bodies of pensioners to align and chalk out strategies to solve the long-pending issues either by dialogue with the Management/ Finance Ministry of the Union of India or through continued judicial process, without standing on prestige, as thoughtfully suggested by you. I am sure such a joint approach will not allow LIC to take advantage of the divisions and help it to focus on honouring its own commitment made in its Resolution of 24-11-2001.
May the cause of pensioners be served early !
