Rajiv Nandan: Our pensioner friends have different mindsets. 80 and above: Mostly they just concentrate on SC case only. 75 to 80: Concentrate on SC case but also say let's have discussion on mediclaim etc. Those aged 70 to 75: They indulge in all sort of discussion. Those aged 65 to 70: Not very much concerned abt all subjects. Those aged 60 to 65: Not at all concerned about anything. They will be active only after next pay revision when they get a feeling that they have missed some rise in pension.

C H Mahadevan: Mr Rajiv Nandan's analysis indicates that there are different priorities dominant in the groups of pensioners. When they gradually migrate to the octogenarian group they develop a dependence on the younger group to help the pensioners for removal of discrimination and injustice. 60-65 group pensioners may like to mentally step into the shoes of the older groups!

That was on 24/11/2001.
