Dear Editor,
I fully endorse you for your humble appeal through your editorial yesterday afternoon as well as posts by other esteemed friends including Sh. Ganga Raju, for showing maximum restraint. But every good gesture has its own side effects too.
At the cost of repetition, I am
of very clear view that it is very difficult for a person to reach the top but
still more difficult to stay on the top.
First legal victory by Sh. Asthana from Single Judge Bench followed by second one through Double Judge Bench and again third one through dismissal of review sought by LIC at Jaipur High Court itself made him an all India hero and hence he was at the top.
But what happened thereafter ?
First legal victory by Sh. Asthana from Single Judge Bench followed by second one through Double Judge Bench and again third one through dismissal of review sought by LIC at Jaipur High Court itself made him an all India hero and hence he was at the top.
But what happened thereafter ?
It was expected by all of us that
he will
continue to stay on the top but
unfortunately
it did not happen. His downfall
was unexpected and sudden.
Reasons are not far to seek. They
are not one but so many.
His attempts to encash his
popularity and all india hero image
through, what people generally
allege, collection of Legal Fund
in his personal bank account
despite the fact that he was also
being financed
through AIRIEF Legal Fund, lack of transparency
and openness, top AIRIEF
leadership remaining in silent mode
for many years without
questioning wasteful spending for filing
unwanted IAs and petitions,
his 'I-know-all' or 'I-only-know; none
else' attitude and hence not
listening to federation leadership at
various levels or any
other case manager and, above all, hitting
everyone, who either
differed with him or questioned, often with
very bad language, his
very simple formula that either you follow
me blindly or I
will label you anti pensioner or agent of LIC/ GOI
may be possibly a few
reasons - all this and more made a lot of
difference.
And that brought him to the present predicament...
Before
our issue reached supreme court and other case handlers appeared on the scene,
every one knows how communication of court developments at Jaipur was being
delayed or shared with lot of twisting and manipulation or sometimes not shared
at all with the pensioners.
