The 1965-220 stalwarts

The issue and the cartoon in the
pages of Chronicle take me back
to my very early days in LIC as
ASSISTANT. As my memory goes,
I saw a group of my seniors elevated
to the category of HGA in 1971.
Perhaps, thereafter, the automatic
promotion to the HGA cadre was
discontinued.

The HGAs then used to  maintain a distinct distance from the Assistants and Section-Heads projecting themselves as the gateway to the management. We saw the   post-1971 Fellow and Associate Assistants questioning competencies of already promoted HGAs.

We experienced promotion rules stalled because of union rivalries causing many deserving promotion aspirants deprived.
