GRANTING FREQUENT ADJOURNMENTS - A MALADY

The following is the partial extract from Sunday Indian Express dated 25-01-2015 about delay in a Criminal case.  This may not relate to our situation but gives an insight into Justice Dipak Mishra's mind, as he is the presiding judge in final hearing of our case in SC.

The bench consisted of Jusice Mishra and R F Nariman and Justice Mishra speaking for the Bench significantly observed that inordinate delays undermine the "concept that a civilised and orderly society thrives on rule of law which includes the fair trial for the accused"  One of the responsible factors, according to justice Mishra is the trial court's habit of granting adjournments, really an ailment, continues. How long shall we say 'Awake Arise'. There is a constant discontent. Courts "should not yield to the request of the counsel to grant adjournment for non acceptable reasons"
