MP SUBRAHMANIAN

Respected Pensioner Colleagues, Namaskar.

Ever since the publication of my message in Pensioners Chronicle on
6th instant under the caption " Time is Ripe ", I am flooded
with phone calls from different stations patting me for the optimistic
views expressed in it. From certain quarters queries were raised
against the concrete basis on which I attempted to bring out such an
article. Kindly permit me to answer them.

1. Other Organisations Coming Closer :-

  • Hither to, we all know, a few organisations continued to differ with the way Shri. KML Asthana conducted the court cases which has caused unnecessary delay and, therefore, they started suggesting new patterns of approach to clinch our issues. Some how, those new avenues did not convince Sri. Asthana and so, proceeded on his own legal background.
There was also another proposal as to why should we be shy of accepting DA
neutralization, which the Management is prepared to settle immediately, ahead of
Updation of Pension.
  • AIRIEF is committed to these twin issues which will benefit the entire pensioner community and annihilate the discrimination amongst the erst-while employees, once and for all, in the same industry.
More over, all the three High Courts have delivered judgments in our favor and the
Apex Court also emphatically refused to grant stay.
  • The entire leadership and the cadre under AIRIEF are thoroughly convinced on the ongoing matters and hence reposed complete faith and confidence upon the strategies of the Captain, Shri. K.M.L. Asthana.
He never failed to acknowledge with gratitude the all time material support extended
to him by leaders like M/s R.B.Kishore, C.H.Mahadevan, T.R.Madhava Rao, (towards
the laborious tasks of preparing affidavits, revision petitions, special leave petitions,
counter petitions, IAs, periodical calculations of DAs & Upward Revision Of
Pensions, etc), R.K.Viswanathan (Mentioning), Anand Tyagi ( efforts taken at the GOI
secretaries level and LIC Top Management level ) and some of the leading activists
( for their contribution through timely articles ).
  • So, he has admitted that it it is not his own show alone, but a collective one. When matters have come to thus far, any further deviation will certainly disrupt our efforts.

2. About " The sky shines brightly " :-

Almost all the Organisations representing LIC Pensioners have come to know of the ground realities and hence they do not wish to skip this golden opportunity of joining the crusading team. GOI and LIC Management knew pretty well that they are fighting a loosing battle, Divide and rule policy has miserably exposed the real intention of the vested interests. To save their faces before the Judiciary, the bureaucracy attempts to pretend that they are not against the interests of pensioners and also that they are prepared to settle a meagre part of our demands and to consider the main & major part subsequently. Learning a lot from us while we were in service, they want to play the same old game against us now.Time is not far off to make them understand that " Maturity has taught us a lot more. Shri. Asthana is thoroughly prepared to face the final hearing and he is hundred percent confident of winning the case on 12th, 13th instants. Let us all be united and declare our solidarity to the powers that be.

1. Rulings of HCs and Apex Court in similar cases are all in our favour,
2. GOI has agreed to the principle of OROP,
3. Public Sectors / Public Sector Undertakings, including RBI & Bank Employees' United Forum have started demanding hike in pension through their wage negotiations,
4. Judiciary bangs against such unilateral stand of the bureaucracy against the interest of the employees and pensioners, AND
5. Our present unanimity in our demands.
Only the above developments prompted me to write the said piece of my personal inner feelings.

With respects to all,

Sincerely yours,
M.P.Subrahmanian,
RIEA, Madurai.
