At age 81 a pensioner’s random thought

A month ahead we would know where do we stand when the SC sits for the final hearing in the tied up suits. While the earlier judgments pronounced so far went in the petitioner’s favor which gives a robust confidence that the final verdict in the SC could not be otherwise we have to yet keep our fingers crossed.
The so called ‘ripple effect’ the bogey once raised by the Government, whether or not their approval is necessary to endorse the Board resolution, the removal of DR anomaly, upgradation of pension at every wage revision, the Corporation’s autonomy were matters which underwent adequate judicial scrutiny and after this the appellant has very little defense in their armory to scuttle the earlier verdicts.
It therefore follows that the final verdict by the SC could be in tune with the verdict so far obtained. Let us pray for it. Presuming that it could be so and the SC asks LIC to implement their order LIC may for their convenience plead for six months are so for them to work out their liability and to make the payment.
This is only my wishful thinking. Should such a scenario arise we should plead for an earlier implementation, bringing in to the court attention that the average life span of an Indian is 67 and there are several pensioners beyond this age living precariously at the edge of their life awaiting a quick settlement. The court may also be told that this long drawn suits have seen many deaths among the pensioners and some of the petitioners also have left this world. To this extent we should be armed with necessary statistics to plead and we do hope that the necessary exercise towards this end is on.

Tired as we are we should go full throttle to get the justice in the SC on 12 NOV and at the cost of repetition let all of us put our heads together leaving aside other matters which can wait.
