We had declared last night that LIC Pensioners Chronicle
was withdrawing from the scene.
Our cards are always very clear, it is our humble attempt
to provide a platform to the pensioners to air their views.
We took the initiative to have a meeting for there was
nobody else to take initiative in this matter. There was
no need to dismiss such a venture.
There are things which the parties can do or cannot do.
We only tried to help the parties for an initial exchange
of views. AIRIEF being the major party in the legal fight
could have taken the initiative and conducted the meeting.
They can do it even now. Let us now start in this direction.
2. With a sense of urgency we wish to clarify here that the idea of conducting a joint meeting was mooted by us on the basis of a communication Shri KML Asthana addressed to the Editor. If you had a feeling that ours is a Third Party platform, etc., there was no need for addressing a message to the Editor.
3. We feel, the need for conducting such a meeting still holds good. It is our desire that such a meeting should be conducted at a convenient place, the parties representing the pensioners exchange free and frank views and then go to the Supreme Court. We warn proper preparation, understanding or lack of it among the parties opposing LIC and GOI will have far reaching consequences. Let us face our opponents with unity among ourselves, That's the need of the hour.
