M SREENIVASA MURTY

It is distressing to note that our friends fighting on behalf of Pensioners refuse to work together.

I am waiting to see the grounds in the Petition filed by LIC seeking stay of contempt proceedings before the Chandigarh HC. I am sure it is a clever strategy and a desperate one for that. We all know that so far, it has been only a series of setbacks to LIC in every Court and in every proceedings (except perhaps in Jaipur where KML was alleged to have withdrawn his CCP). In this background, LIC has tried once again for a break and failed before Supreme Court on 14th.

It is an undeniable fact that the fate of LIC pensioners rests more on Jaipur Judgement dt 12/01/2010 more than any other Court Order. Delhi and Chandigarh HCs relied on that judgement only. It is therefore in the best interests of all if the Petitioners in all the three WPs, approach SC jointly and pray for directions to LIC. Modalities will have to be discussed with the Sr Counsel and followed.

As long as pensioners remain a divided house, it suits LIC to keep the
issue live till its Civil Appeals come up for hearing several years later.

By that time, more pensioners would have become family pensioners.
Thanks and regards,
