A layman's anxiety

Shri MSM wants to know why the Solicitor General of India is retained by LIC & NOT by UOI. Some informed readers could well make a guess. The undersigned made a wild guess some time back. But, thinks that it is better that the guess not made public. It may be a matter of probity. Those who have one or more than one guess which according to them does / do not violate the probity or public order may express themselves freely. Shri MSM has also 'excused himself' to disclose the guess until after the event of 24-11-2015. ( I've just put it ornamentally ). It may not be in the interest of litigants too. Why Shri MSM commit a faux pas of getting caught in a cobweb of controversy ?

The SGI or the AGI represent directly or indirectly the UOI ( including the institutions controlled ) and they have obligation not to act against the interest of government. The Hon. Judges of the SC or HCs are not expected to get influenced by the learned counsellors / senior counsellors from Dick and Harry Law Firm or from the Law Department of Government/ s of Central or states. The judiciary is supposed be judicious and act without fear or favour.
