UPGRADATION: Mehta's humble questions

B.R.Mehta: Dear Editor, I wish to make a humble request to Sh. M.V.Venugopalan to pl clarify whether GNS action to discard pension upgradation issue despite clear verdict by Jaipur High Court is right or wrong.Also let Sh. Venugopalan write another open letter to bigger hero KML who lost an opportunity at Jaipur High Court by not opposing LIC to give only 20%of a very petty amount already deposited wrongly

Asthana said, we have nearly won the case. We conducted victory celebrations. Thousands of pensioners calculated arrears with or without ready reckoner. They apportioned the amounts for wife, unmarried daughters and unemployed sons and for themselves. 

We conducted the case for the last 5 years and used or misused lakhs of rupees. Is the victory achieved. When the victory is wrested through the court and from a unwilling MODY government, do you think we will be able to enjoy the benefits peacefully. 

Had we concentrated on 100% DR neutralisation, we would have got the same long back. But issues are clubbed and we have to fight and I must say we are only victims of circumstances. Now we are not even sure the fruits of court judgment would be available to all pensioners to enjoy. That is the predicament we are in. 

And the questions like "GNS action to discard pension upgradation" etc. do not deserve any reply at all. Is there a pensioner who doesn't want pension upgradation. When there are two issues and one finds that one can be easily and immediately achieved, as a tactical measure one is tempted to ask and achieve one with the understanding that the next fight should be for upgradation. That is a tactical move. That's a strategy. And saying 'discard' etc. is pure prejudice. 

Did Asthana want Sridharan come to Supreme Court. Message like "Sir, Sridharan is coming to Supreme Court only to delay everything. etc. could be seen if we look back. Then what, 5 long precious years are lost. 

EVEN NOW NOBODY IS SURE, WHETHER WE WILL ACHIEVE EVERYTHING WE ASK FOR, AND IF WE ACHIEVE, ALL THE PENSIONERS WILL GET IT AND IF ALL THE PENSIONERS ARE GETTING, WILL THE GOVT. ALLOW US TO ENJOY IT FOR LONG. 

There are questions and answers, but let us not say somebody DISCARDED etc.
