1965 "220-case" in Kerala High Court‏

Dear Editor

Mr.Ramanathan's random thoughts were a fine treatise, containing useful points for our case managers.

I would like to add one item that in 1965 LIC for future promotees to the cadre of Higher Grade Assistant refixed the starting scale of pay at Rs.200. Earlier it was Rs.220.

  • Mr.K.V.Ramankutty and some more affected promotees approached Kerala High Court pointing out the discrimination ( two different scales of Pay for the same Cadre). The verdict was in favour of the affected promotees (petitioners) and LIC implemented the verdict not only for the Petitioners but also for all affected employees.
In 60s it was famously known as 220 case.

Thank you
V.S.Rajamani
