I went through the details of the package as stated in the blog, but nowhere did I find it stated as goodbye package. Also, I did not find anything mentioned that, with this package payment, further monthly pension payments will cease.
Further, the one time lumpsum amount offered is very meagre, especially, for lower grade pensioners, which payment may not be equal even to one month's pension (basic plus D.A.)
If at all, LIC takes a cue of the above and decides to pay such amount as one time lumpsum amount to its pensioners/family pensioners, the existing very senior pensioners should fight tooth and nail to oppose such a move, since getting pension till our existence is a matter of our right.
Even the cartoon depicted in the blogspot do not appear to be in good taste. Let us hope that, that LIC. will not take cue of this offer by SBI as stated in the cartoon. If the package offered by SBI to its 80 and over aged pensioners as a sort of bonus or incentive for having lived such long it is okay and welcome.

- In response to just another cartoon with the title 'IN REM' carrying the question "Have you got a copy of DELHI HC JUDGMENT, a reader offered to let us have a copy of Delhi HC judgment while the focus of the cartoon was on the significance of Delhi HC judgment (especially the 'in rem' order/expression contained in it) in the background of the Supreme Court order for payment of 20% arrears to "Respondent-employees". Further the comments in another cartoon "20% interim relief is too high and risky, could it be reduced to 10%" can also be misunderstood and criticised. We need only say, a cartoon is a cartoon! Nevertheless we enjoyed the reader's criticism. That explains our point. -Ed.
