In
case we have to find the way forward, it is imperative we follow certain definitive steps. The following are my humble suggestions:
A few of our case managers, even now, are practising advocates in High Courts. They should try to get under the skin of the modality of catching hold of the right persons in the Supreme Court who can use their influence in seeing to it that at least on 25th of this Month our case is taken up as the FIRST one. This should be the top priority of our Case Managers in the remaining one week.
The Reserve Bank initiatives in extending the OROP benefits to their pensioners and the decision to implement OROP for the Defence personnel should come in handy as valid supportive cases for us.
Shri.Murty's veiled allusion to a few of our friends behaving as though they are strangers to the entire drama going on in the court room points to the fact that our house is still a divided one. The final hearing is the most crucial one and we will not get another opportunity to show our unity and the emerging strength. It is time they saw reason, buried their egos and presented a common mutually agreed strategy.
As someone had already pointed' out, our counsels should be more proactive and summon the courage to take the 'Bull by the Horns' if need be and contribute their mite in ensuring that our case is taken up as scheduled ,besides marshalling all the facts and figures needed for guiding the case to its natural culmination.
If need be, in the light of the Kolkota High court judgement, revisit the Board Resolution, Sec 48 of the Insurance Act and the importance of invoking articles 14 and 16 of the constitution.
May God be with us on 25th of March!
