BANK NEWS

"ATTEMPTS TO PROJECT UFBU IN POOR LIGHT"

Dear Editor,
I am a regular reader of your Chronicle and the information published everyday is a refreshing source of inspiration for bank pensioners also!

But I find Today your esteemed publication carrying an article written by Mr S. Ramachandran Former General Manager, Bank of Baroda, which attempts to project UFBU in poor light.

"The UFBU is betraying the interests of the retirees." Publishing such extremely baseless and fabricated charges by a disgruntled man who fought against ONE MORE OPTION in 2010 and requested MoF to "stop pension payment in PSBs forthwith" will certainly not add strength to understand the present problems of Bank Pensioners Vs UFBU in a better light.

All the NINE Constituents of UFBU have unanimously agreed to pursue the pending Issues of Pensioners viz 100%DR to the Pre-1/11/2002 retired, Updation, Improvements in Family Pension, Uniform Medical Policy etc. These core demands of bank pensioners are found in the Common Charter of Demands(COD) presented to the IBA.

IBA has conveyed to IBA during Bilateral Talks that they are inclined to consider 100%DR benefit and confirmed to UFBU that they have written to MoF for Approval . IBA has also agreed to consider improvements on Family Pension on the lines of Improvements made for RBI Family Pensioners. In one of the Sub-Committee Meetings with Workmen Unions, IBA has indicated extending a Mediclaim Policy on an ONE TIME small initial payment.

On Updation, the Talks are likely to start in the next meetings with IBA.

Above are the facts and present positive developments for the Bank Pensioners. In the absence of a recognised structural forum for pensioners to negotiate with IBA, bank pensioners pin their hopes fervently on UFBU.

With unified approach, UFBU could secure ONE more option in 2009-10 resurrecting more than 4Lakh PF_Optees in-service and more than 60000 retired PF-Optees; an achievement to be appreciated by all as nowhere the OPTION has been extended after the Central Gov't introduced NPS wef 1/1/2004 and still there are more than 35000 PF-Optees denied of this in RBI, LIC and the 4 GICs!

THREE Lakh Bank Pensioners support UFBU in all its struggles to achieve the 10th BPS which will include the improvements of Pensioners!.

With Ugadi Greetings!
