This is a composition of a Vaishnavite preceptor called Vedanta Desika who lived in the twelfth century. He was a poet par excellence and belonged to the Vaishnavite cult propagated by Saint Ramanuja in South India. Of his many works, this is the only work in prose that covers the epic of Ramayana in one stretch.
