" Call for unity "

Dear Sri Gangadharan,

I saw your post under the above caption a few minutes ago
expressing your view that there must be a meeting to understand
different points of view on the issue of SC hearing, iron out the
differences to the extent possible so that different parties do not
take stands which may weaken our arguments and if possible to
evolve a common approach to plead our cases.

After having withdrawn from the scene, your action to express your faith in the positive outcome through a common meeting in the larger interest of pensioner community is really commendable/appreciable. While taking the initiative to suggest a common meeting you made abundantly clear that it was only because of the encouraging stance taken by Sri Asthana and his supporters. However your conviction that a common meeting is desirable and beneficial, made you to revise your stand and reopen the issue of a meeting of stakeholder representatives.

We are debating for quite some time the need for a common meeting without any progress. At last LIC PC took the initiative for such a move. At the pace at which the matter has been moving I do not know whether the intended purpose of the meeting will be achieved at all. We have to therefore relentlessly pursue the efforts till the results are achieved.

I am only reminded of common meetings in different context. If you look through the annals of history you will find that there have been innumerable instances where nations have been at loggerheads on much more serious issues and in many situations political solutions have been found through common meetings through involvement of neutral nations. At the global levels when nations can come to acceptable decisions on matters involving millions of people why a move to convene a common meeting involving much smaller number of people to understand and iron out the differences should meet with such obstacles. And that too when a neutral party like LIC PC takes upon itself the task of bringing the different pensioner groups together for mutual advantage and benefit.

I believe at least an honest and sincere attempt should be made with transparency and mutual trust. I have a vague feeling that while we talk about a common approach we lack conviction about the positive aspect of such move and possibly are suspicious about the outcome usefulness. I am confident that a meeting among the stakeholder group representatives will at least help in understanding the strategies of the groups and may able to reach a common approach at the time court hearings.

I wish the leaders will take a positive step without standing on formalities and create an atmosphere of mutual trust, maturity, sense of purpose, openness to reach consensus in the matter of working out a uniform strategy and ensure SC to be convinced of the injustice meted out to us and pass a verdict in our favour.
