..@ Pre August 1997 Pensioners get DA/DR on tapering ( reducing percentage ) basis. This percentage would be applicable when they are allowed 100% neutralisation in dearness allowance / dearness relief .
As stated by Shri Subir Kumar Mazumdar, the number of slabs are arrived at based on rise or fall of 4 points over the' merged' points of the AIWCCPI ( Base 1960 = 100 )
Incidentally , the number of increase in slabs for calculating DA/DR for the period August 2014 to January 2015 will be known on 31 July 2014. It is going to be much less compared to last half year. The inflation is reportedly contained !
