Let me make an honest attempt to place before our well informed readers of LIC Pensioners Chronicle in response to a clarification dated 15.06.2014 from our learned friend Sh.I.K.Thakral, Chandigarh AIRIEF Unit.

1. True that about 700 LIC Pensioners are residing in Tri City of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
Again, it is also true that a vast majority say approx 75% having retired from Class 3/4 out of these 700 are members of AIIPA which is not part of our current legal battle. More so, membership of both AIRIEF Units Chandigarh as well as Panchkula is confined to Retired Class One Officers only. So it is really totally incorrect to say that 99% members out of 700  in this tricity are always with Sh. Asthana only.

2. Our writ  in Chandigarh High Court was drafted and filed by great efforts of renowned legal authority namely Sh.Brij Jit Singh and a great fighter and crusader late Sh. M.L. Gandhi, both of them being petitioners also besides 29 additional petitioners with total 31 from this tri-city and adjoining cities like one being from Patiala city

3. After sad and sudden demise of Sh.M.L. Gandhi in December,2010 who formed an independent AIRIEF Unit at Panchkula being carved out of Chandigarh Parent Unit just a few days before his departure, all these Pensioners met and formed a three members legal committee headed by Sh.Brij Jit Singh (Chandigarh) with another two members being S/Sh. T.C. Chopra (Chandigarh) and Sh. S.N. Chhabra (Panchkula). All petitioners have their complete trust in this committee who are meeting at regular intervals and are  giving their desired legal fund as per need of the hour as well as fresh Vakalat naama for fresh cases to be filed to said legal committee. All readers must appreciate that all legal expenses till date have been incurred by these petitioners only without any collection from any corner.

4. So it is again incorrect to say that Sh. Sreenivasa Murty just met 3/4 petitioners here and all other petitioners are with Sh.Asthana. In fact,he had a meeting with three member legal committee authorised to pursue chandigarh case further to discuss importance of joint legal action in supreme court where chandigarh high court matter is listed for 19.08.2014.

5. Really sad to note that we do not discuss what is wrong with this idea of Sh.Sreenivasa Murty for joint legal action at supreme court.

6. Rather, we feel pleasure in discussing personalities in stead of ideas thereby putting two legal experts namely S/Sh.Asthana and Murty against each other instead of both working jointly for common cause.
