LETTER ADDRESSED TO DIRECTOR (PERSONNEL), LIC, MUMBAI BY THE GENERAL SECRETARY, FEDERATION OF RETIRED LIC CLASS I
OFFICERS ASSOCIATIONS ON 8-5-2014.

Medi-claim scheme with floater cover for retirees

We refer to your circular dated 28th April and thank you for introducing increasing floater cover with effect from 1-7-2014 as repeatedly demanded by our Federation for the past couple of years.

We would however like to point out that the circular is not clear in regard to some important aspects relating to the scheme in so far as they are applicable to retirees.  Many pensioners are not able to determine the category to which they belong and even calculating their premium liability has not been easily facilitated.  We wish that the Central Office could have come out with more explicit instructions though it would have involved only a little more of clerical exercise. It will be appreciated that the pensioners deserve atleast the same measure of care and attention, if not more, as given to in-service employees on the implementation of such benefits of important nature.

In any case we strongly feel that the deadline fixed for the intimation of options by pensioners viz. 31-5-2014 is too short and as such we request you to extend the same atleast upto 15-06-2014 so as to avoid any further confusion.

We trust that our above reasonable request will be acceded to enable the pensioners to secure the required clarification atleast from the concerned Pension Disbursing Office of LIC before submitting their option letter.
