The legal battle on DR anomaly & pension updation by LIC pensioners is anxiously being observed by the pensioners of all PSUs in insurance & banking industries. Success in Jaipur HC at all three stages shows the hard work and legal expertise of Shri Asthana and those behind him. Cases filed in Delhi HC & Chandigarh HC have also been prepared and pleaded with equal diligence and legal expertise and are won. Judgment of justice Bhandari has helped as a favourable ‘Ratio decidendi’ in the later cases. These judgments do serve the very purpose of LIC pensioners. Unfortunately, LIC under directions of Finance Ministry Bureaucracy is embroiling the pensioners in endless legal battle. The leaders of various pensioners’ groups / petitioners are making efforts to come out of the web cab and get a final favourable order so that the aggrieved pensioners get relief at the earliest. Such efforts sometime may go futile, which I do feel may be by chance and not for any other reason.
- Analysis of Shri M Srinivasa Murty is praiseworthy. It will help the petitioners / leaders of various unions to safeguard pensioners’ interest from the malevolent acts of UOI/ LIC. I hope his ideas will receive attention of all concerned and necessary steps will be taken so that UOI/LIC would not get any chance to take undue advantage of any sort of differences in approach by various groups of pensioners.
