Dear Sir,
I am staying at Pune, retired in 1990 as Development Officer working with LIC since 1954, age 82 years. I was a prominent activist of NFIFWI.
The SC has listed LIC's SLP as regular Civil Appeal without any stay in respect of various HC decisions favouring the pensioners.
A lot of delay is generally anticipated in the disposal of civil appeals in the Supreme Court. In this connection I wish to refer to a Mumbai HC circular. The Mumbai High Court has recently issued notice and circular to the High Court and its Benches as well as courts subordinate to it to give precedence to the cases of petitioners/ respondents, aged 65 years and above and conduct case hearings on day to day basis as well as disposal thereof.
Though this direction of Hon'ble Mumbai High Court is applicable only for Maharashtra region, the principle upheld in this is the seniority of age and humanitarian grounds.
I suggest the lawyers fighting on behalf of LIC pensioners in SC to consider whether such a request could be made to the Chief Justice of SC to apply such a noble principle, so as to get expeditious result.
Thanks,
Madhusudan N. Aklujkar.
