Mr Asthana, his team and the eminent
counsels advising him in the epic battle
are fully seized of the matter and are
preparing for the hearing on 22 October 2013.
Dear Sir,
I have no doubt, Mr Asthana, his team and the eminent counsels advising him in the epic battle, are fully seized of the matter and are preparing for the hearing on 22 Oct. The Pensioner fraternity of LIC all over the country would be watching with bated breath, to know what happens on 22nd.
It is very difficult to predict the outcome of the hearing on
22nd. Because, the Contempt case has been pending before this judge for quite sometime. Between the last date when it came up and now, there is the all important SC decision on 30 Sept. Naturally any proceedings on 22nd will focus more on the consequences/ implications of the intervening SC order so as to decide on the actual matter before the Court.
Let us all be prepared and not expect any miraculous final orders to emerge on that day. First of all, the SC Order of 30 Sept should be brought to the Notice of the Court. Any interested Party may do it through a Memo. LIC is unlikely to do so for all the known reasons.
It is likely that Mr Asthana's Counsel does it and prays for categorical directions to be issued to LIC to implement the Judgement dated 12 Jan 2010, forthwith. Then LIC will seek time, ask for adjournment etc. The mind of LIC will be known, Judge's mood will be known and Mr Asthana will be able to hold out the threat of contempt being pressed.
After some arguments, it is possible that Court does give directions to LIC to file a Memo/ Affidavit, within say, two weeks, committing to Court about LIC's plan of action pursuant to SC Order of 30 Sept. If such a thing happens on 22nd, we have every reason to feel happy.
As the issue is in safe hands, we may continue our prayers while exchanging views and sharing thoughts as an academic exercise.
Warm regards,
Sreenivasa Murty Mulukutla
