TODAY IN SUPREME COURT IS OUR (PENSIONERS) DAY‏

Dear Editor,

When our case was taken up today, Mr Savla said just two sentences. To the effect that the 7th May Interim Directions have not been complied with by LIC.

Justice Misra was visibly annoyed and asked who is appearing for LIC? Some new face (will ascertain the name later) stood up and said we have already applied for withdrawal and these Petitioners are raising some new issues. Main matter is coming up on 23 Sept etc., His Lordship was more irritated and quickly went through our IA. He started dictating the Order " It is noted that our Order of 7 May has not been complied with .........,We direct LIC to ..........."
More intervention by LIC Counsel and suddenly by RK Singh appearing for Jaipur. Both emphasized that the main matter is coming up on 23rd.

His Lordship brushed aside their plea and asked RKS: you are asking this IA should be adjourned? He said Yes, I am the main Petitioner in these CAs. Judge frowned and said "we are not hearing on 23rd" implying your request is unacceptable.

The Dictation was resumed to the effect 'LIC is directed to pay AS PER THE IMPUGNED JUDGEMENT in two weeks. Otherwise Chairman LIC shall ........." Again LIC counsel pleaded about the Chairman being summoned etc., the Order, if payment is not made in two weeks the Competent Authority shall...........(I couldn't hear).

Now as I understand withdrawal of 20% from the deposit has gone. It is 20% of the amount as per impugned judgement.

More comments  when the Order comes out in print.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL LIC PENSIONERS.
