HANDS OFF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT - EMAIL CAMPAIGN NOT JUSTIFIED.

WE are a nation.  We are 124 crores of people. Our population increases second by second. Minute by minute...

We know it that India is a Republic.  We are ruled by an elected Parliament. Members of Parliament are our elected representatives. The maximum strength of both the Houses of Parliament is 802 Members of Parliament. There is the President who is the Head of the State. Members of Parliament elect a leader. He is appointed as Prime Minister.  Prime Minister chooses members of his Cabinet known as Ministers to assist him in ruling the country.  The Members of Parliament and those elected as Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers, from among themselves, rule the country.  It is so simple as that.  Let's not make it complicated.

We also know it that the President is paid a salary.  Since he is the Head of the state, certain amount of prestige is attached to this post.  He has to live in tune with the dignity of the position enjoyed by him.  Or dignity, we presume, he has. The Prime Minister in keeping with the dignity and necessity of the situation do enjoy certain privileges.  That's the case with the Ministers.  That is also the case with Members of Parliament who are given the best possible treatment.  They rule the country. The world over, democracy is, rule by elected representatives of the people.

No where in the world people think of taking away these few privileges enjoyed by 'these rulers' (the President, the Prime Minister, Ministers and the Members of Parliament) and distribute among the poor.  These are constitutional provisions.  They are people who opt to work for the people.  That's a life long dedication.  They are given Pension.  They are given other privileges. They are the cream of the society. They are our representatives.  We elect them.   Barring aberrations, they have a proven work record.  If they don't meet with our expectations, it is for the people to elect other suitable candidates.

A country is expected to keep them in good humour so that more and more people come forward to serve the people.  Some people ask, what is their qualification.  Why they are treated well.  Remember 124 crores of people cannot rule the country.   We select and elect 802 representatives for a term to look after our affairs and rule the country.

People may just wonder one moment what is this democracy !  What is this election?  Who are Members of Parliament ? Strange wisdom may dawn on them one day and they may even ask what is the need for a President to rule the country ?  Why freedom fighters are given Pension?  What is the DR factor that can be allowed!  My good God, is there no end to this jealousy ?

EMAIL MESSAGE REPRODUCED:-

What applies to Govt. Servants should apply to MPs as they also take a pension.

*Reform Act of 2012*  1. No Tenure / No Pension. Parliamentarians collect a salary while in office but should not receive any pay when they're out of office. 2.  Parliamentarians should purchase their own retirement plans, just as all Indians do.  3. Parliamentarians should no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Their pay should be linked to the CPI or 3%, whichever is lower. 4. Parliamentarians should lose their current health care system and participate in the same health care system as the Indian people.  5. Parliamentarians should equally abide by all laws they impose on the Indian people.  6. All contracts with past and present Parliamentarians should be void effective 1/1/12.   The Indian people did not make this contract with them.  Parliamentarians made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Parliament is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people in India to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?
If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.
